Roan 2018

There is a special ship in the Rotterdam museum harbor: the ROAN. Built in 1929, the ship sailed through Europe in a criss-cross way and slowly saw the twentieth century pass by. When Daniël Lehmann, co-founder and bass player of Ausdauer, bought the ROAN in 2007, he found a box of love letters during the renovation. A secret correspondence from the 70s between a captain's daughter and her courtship, hidden behind the paneling of one of the bedsteads. Ausdauer went in search of the letter writers and learned not only the special history of the ship, but also the story of skippers daughter Ariane and her father.

ROAN is the prelude to the location performance The Century of Ariane. It promises to be a special evening full of beautiful music and compelling ship stories, especially made for Rotterdam's neighborhood theaters. Ausdauer invites every evening a guest speaker from Rotterdam who will tell us about the life on inland shipping or the history of shipbuilding.
